JOshua KliemanThis is my 10th year teaching students in Philadelphia, and my 3rd year at The U School. I teach students in the Highlight Lab, which I like to refer to as a documentary media lab. In my lab, my hope is that students gain a deeper knowledge of their own lives and the world around them through the tools of digital and traditional media arts. We empower students with cameras, audio equipment, lighting, and other tools to capture life outside of the classroom. We also partner with organizations like The Print Center, WHYY, and PBS Student Reporting Labs. I began working with media when I was in high school, and earned a degree in film production from Emerson College in Boston, MA. After college, I realized that my most creative and inspiring times making media were during my high school career, and decided to teach these passions to others. I went to Philadelphia public schools from 1st grade through graduation. I live in West Mt. Airy with my wife, daughter, and our dog. I love to cook, ride bicycles, wander in the woods, and spend lots of time with family.
